Emergency services have rushed to the scene in New Ferry area, services from the City of Liverpool are on route to the scene of the explosion which occurred around 9.15.
It is not yet clear if anyone was inside any of the buildings at the time or if anyone is injured by the blast.
“They have collapsed in a suspected explosion due to a gas leakage”.
Residents said they had felt “the earth shake from the explosion”, which left a huge plume of smoke rising into the sky visible from Liverpool which also felt the explosion.
Trains have been supended in the local area, whilst other services have also been re-routed whilst the Emerganccy operation takes place.
Arrows Park Hospital is on standby to deal with the injuries which stands at 50 at the moment, staff from the hospital are volunteering to attend the scene to help with the injured.
At this time it’s unknown if there are any fatalities, we’re currently receiving live updates from the scene.

Road closures remain in place in Bebington following last nights incident. Circular Dr at Osborne Cl and New Chester Rd at Bebington Rd.
A National Grid spokesman said: “We were called at 9.26pm on Saturday 25 March to a report of an explosion in Boundary Road.
“Our engineers remain on site working with the emergency services to make the scene safe and to identify what caused the incident.
“The gas supply to the main property involved has been isolated. Our thoughts are with the injured and we wish them a prompt recovery.
The local authorities are currently onsite evaluating the damage, before declaring the scene safe. One this has been completed residents and business will be able to return.
